This logo comes from the 16th century Albrecht Dürer woodcut Melencolia I. The numbers of the 4 by 4 grid are arranged in such a way that each vertical, horizontal, diagonal or symmetric pattern adds up to 34. The square is flanked by the planetary symbols for Uranus and Jupiter, which signify creativity and hard work, respectively. 4 is the magic number of Uranus. 34 is the magic number of Jupiter. To me, this symbol is a reminder that what might at first glance look like a chaotic jumble could have a hidden perfection.
